Mt. Baker Rally

October 6, 2012

Jack Kettlestrings hosted the Mt. Baker Rally this year and did a great job.  Doris and Bruce Sjoquist, John Taft, Darrell Klineman (and grandson), Dave Borg, Mark Cook (and son), Dick Joneli and Dorothy Enderry, and Tim and Kathy Randell attended the run.  We left the Nooksack Casino parking lot at 10:30 and headed up the mountain.  Fall colors were just beginning to show, but as we headed up the mountain the foliage began to be more vibrant with lots of reds and yellows.

We went directly to Artist Point along with lots of other people.  But we have never seen Mt. Baker and Shuksan more beautiful.  The air was crisp and clean and we could see all the way to Baker Lake.  We spent about an hour at the top exploring the trails.  Many people stopped to look at our cars.  We left the mountain at about 1:30 and then stopped at North Fork Brewery of a late lunch (dinner) with the group.  The food was great and the company even better.   After lunch, we all headed on our separate ways.

I want to especially thank Jack for stepping in to host this run.  El Rae was not able to do host it and the Club really appreciates Jack’s willingness to help out.   — Kathy Randell
